This document outlines the benefits of leasing with GridSpy and the rights and responsibilities of the Lessee (you) and the Lessor (GridSpy). Engaging in a lease with GridSpy constitutes your agreement with these Terms. GridSpy retains the right to review and make changes to this document.

The GridSpy Terms of Lease make it easy for you to install a GridSpy Energy Monitoring Solution and monitor energy right now in a way that fits within your operations budget.
There is a one off set up fee and a small ongoing monthly charge and that is it! There is a minimum term of 3-months after which you can cancel at any time no questions asked. Although we probably will ask you some questions because we are always interested in feedback, but you can return it in working order when you do not require it anymore and we will stop charging you at the end of the calendar month.
Why 3-months? We think 3-months is the very least amount of time you will need to gather a decent baseline and understanding of your energy use and to start to make some changes and see the results of those change efforts.

GridSpy reserves the right to regularly review the Terms of Lease and apply changes. This right of review and change extends across all GridSpy Terms documents, including but not limited to, the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and the Terms of Sale. Please review these documents regularly.
GridSpy Limited, as applicable, may be referred to in these Terms of Lease as “GridSpy,” “GridSpy Energy Monitoring Solution,” “System”, “Service,” “Product,” “we” and “us,” or “the Lessor”.
You are one party to the contract. You may be an individual, an organisation, or many individuals across an organisation. You may be referred to by your name, organisation name or as “the Lessee”. GridSpy is the other party to this contract. Lease of the GridSpy Product and Service constitutes agreement to be bound by the Terms set out in this document.
The Terms of Lease constitutes a contract between GridSpy the Lessor, and the user/ the Lessee. The Terms include the provisions set forth in this document and in the GridSpy Privacy Policy, and those parts applicable in the Terms of Sale, Terms of Service and Information documents and other terms or conditions that may be presented to you from time to time in connection with specific Service offerings (all of which we collectively refer to as the “Terms of Service” or “Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you do not have the right to access, purchase, Lease or use our Products and our Service. If you do Lease and use our Products and our Service, your use shall be deemed to confirm your acceptance of the Terms of Lease and your agreement to be a party to this binding contract. Once product is leased from GridSpy and/or you access your personal/organisation Cloud Dash you have agreed to all Terms and are subject to all Terms appropriate to the Lease agreement.
By using the GridSpy Product and Service, you acknowledge, accept and agree with all provisions of the Privacy Policy, including the use and treatment of your Account Information and your Content in accordance with the GridSpy Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you acknowledge, accept and agree with all provisions of the Subscription Policy. Note for the Terms of Lease and the Lessee’s monthly payment, the Base Subscription fee is already calculated into your monthly payment. See also: Lease pricing structure.
First you need to Lease a GridSpy Energy Monitoring Solution. Then the solution (products/hardware and software) is to be installed, during which you will require the services of an electrician of your choice paid for by you. Once installed you will be able to see live updates of your energy use online. Ongoing access to the Cloud dashboard as well as other services and infrastructure accrue a monthly charge called the Base Subscription Fee and this charge is included in your monthly fee. The GridSpy Energy Monitoring Solution has been designed to remain simple, modular and adaptable. To begin all you may require is a GridHub and a GridNode with associate current transformers (CTs) to clip on to loads. The standard 15amp 60amp CTs are provided with the kit if appropriate. These clips will plug into the GridNode. Over radio the GridNode will send this information to the GridHub, usually within 100m or so away. The GridHub requires an internet connection and will upload this collected data to your personal Cloud Dash to view. See more on this at Connection Overview. The GridHub can connect either through You can do this via your internal Ethernet or through an optional 3G Link we will provide for you.

There are no fixed term contracts beyond the first 3-months. The install fee is non-refundable, however do see our 30 Day Money Back Guarantee below.
The one-off installation fee and the 1st month are to be paid in full and ahead of shipping. Each following month is charged as a calendar month. See more on this under Dispatch and Invoicing.
The Lessee organises and pays for the electrician to clip on the CTs.
If you are unsure at any point what components would be best, give us a call to figure out how many Hubs and Nodes you may need and what size CTs are required. Typically we recommend that you count the breakers of interest and choose the next largest CT above the breaker rating. Note that 3-phase breakers (present in industrial and large commercial sites) require 3 CTs each.

Note: Up to 20 GridHubs and 100 GridNodes can be installed on a single site to monitor up to 600 circuits. If you want to monitor more than this, please Contact Us.
At any point you may wish to purchase your leased system. Give us a call for a personal deal taking into account how long you have leased it for. It is likely you will get a discount on the full purchase price. Remember, once you have fully purchased and moved from being a Lessee you are still required to pay a monthly Base Subscription Fee for the GridSpy Service. This monthly fee will be less than what you paying for the full Lease of Product and Service.
Before we ship any product or allow access to the GridSpy Service and Cloud dash you will pay the one off installation fee and the first month of Lease up front. Once the payment is received we will ship the first Thursday following the payment. See the Terms of Sale for more on dispatch, including any possible delivery delays due to stock availability.
Before dispatch all necessary organisation, account details and account contact names and emails are required to have been provided to GridSpy to assist in ongoing payment. All this information is held in the strictest confidence in accordance with the GridSpy Privacy Policy and will not be disclosed to third parties other than is detailed in the Privacy Policy and in regards to debt recovery outlined in these Terms.
GridSpy will always send email invoices as a preference. Please specify if you want a posted paper invoice.
After the 1st month and the one-off installation fee have been paid in full ahead of shipping, monthly charging will commence. This recurring charge will be applied each month until the kit is returned to us in full. Each month is charged as a calendar month whether you are installed, online, using your data or not. Invoices will be emailed to the contact provided by you at the end of each month for payment on the following 20th of the month. For example the month of July invoice will email out July 30th with payment expected August 20th.
As the Lessee you make a commitment to handle, install and use the GridSpy product with all due care. This includes using it only as it is designed for and installing in accordance with the instructions in the provided install guide. You must use only the power packs provided to you with the system for the Hubs and Nodes. Use of other power packs may cause inaccurate readings or damage the equipment. As the Lessee you commit to install the GridSpy system under the care of an electrician. GridSpy does not take any responsibility for replacing goods broken by poor handling and/or install, whether or not installed by an electrician. Please see more on this on our Terms of Sale document, paying attention to our Warranty and Limitations of Liability.
All due care with information, codes, passwords and keys and sharing of your dash are expected to be undertaken by the Lessee in line with our Terms of Service. Acceptance and use of our Product and Service on Lease is acceptance of these Terms.
In the first 30 days of use, if you feel it is not the system for you, return it in working order and we will return your first month's lease in full! Please advise in writing that you wish to do this before the 30 days pass. Then return the system in good condition and working order to GridSpy. Once received and checked we will refund you the 1st month’s fee to your nominated account. The 30 day countdown starts from the day of dispatch. The $100 non-refundable install fee is still not refundable.
We will honour any faulty product with replacements for the life of the Lease. However, this is according to our standard Warranty. You will be invoiced for repairs should equipment fail due to improper use or handling by the customer as described in Care and Operation of GridSpy Products and Service and the Customers Responsibilities and in other GridSpy Terms documents. You can cancel and return your GridSpy kit at any time in the first 30 days and after the first 3-month Lease period. Please provide 7-days’ notice in writing via email about your plan to do this so we can be of assistance in the decommission. It is best to have kept the original box your GridSpy kit arrived in and ship it back in this. At this point once kit is returned charging will end at the end of that calendar month and you will be liable only for outstanding bills and any interest on outstanding bills if applicable. We expect all kit to be returned in working order, if not you may be charged for any replacement or repairs required.
After cancellation of the Lease we will allow access to your Cloud dash for 6-months to access historical data and use our export features to move your data to your storage. As the Lease is now cancelled it is read-access only. There is no support component to this access. If you wish to extend this beyond the complimentary 6-months, talk to us about a small payment to extend to 1 year, 5 years or 10 years.
The monthly Lease charge is applied to calendar months, and includes part-months charged as full months. There is no pro-rata. Invoices will be mailed at the end of the month (30th) for payment on the following 20th of the month. For example the month of July invoice will email out July 30th with payment expected August 20th.
If you do not pay on time you will receive a reminder notice. After 3 reminder notices GridSpy will use its discretion whether to continue to charge you the Lease or stop, whether to charge interest on the amount owing, and reserves the right to sell your debt to a debt recovery agent.
If you repeatedly do not pay your Lease GridSpy reserves the right to block your access to the online dash and put into place plans to recover the Product and outstanding payments including interest. This is not an activity we undertake lightly and we will do our best to work with you to avoid this situation. Please review our full Terms of Service and other Terms documents to understand your rights and responsibilities in use of the Products and Service and those of GridSpy to you. Leasing of our Product and Service binds you to acceptance of the Terms as outlined in this document and all applicable terms in all other GridSpy Documents found at Gridspy.com.
